More on what we do....

We sometimes are asked about how hot our kilns need to fire to fuse the beautiful decorations that we create to the body of the plate or gift piece. The answer really depends upon the design and the piece as each item fires differently, along with each having unique length of firing times.
However, our kilns are equipped to fire above 2300 degrees Fahrenheit. This allows the decoration to be totally fused into the glaze of the pieces. Most designs, particularly the gold and platinum designs, fire at significantly lower temperatures, but often our hotel and restuarnat customers want their designs fired at the higher temperature levels. Higher fire temperatures require different color pigments and decorations. Woodmere produces designs and decorations for all appropriate firing temperatures.
Here, you see a kiln load of cereal bowls preparing to be fired in one of our kilns. The bowls themselves are place on kiln refractory which allows for maximization of the kiln load and will withstand the high temperature of the firing.
